WOW -- that had to be terrifying! I thought it worth quoting the news report here so people would understand this was not a case (as many in the past have been) where some negligent parent left a child in the car while they went to work, a store, or worse a bar. This was a parent getting gas and still in site of their child. Thank God they were able to fight for their baby and get her back!

"KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A couple moving from Colorado to Missouri ended up in a fight for their baby girl and their car at a gas station at 2911 Van Brunt Blvd. on Monday night.

Police said the couple pulled up to the gas station at 9:40 p.m. and got out to talk to two people driving the rental moving trucks as they were getting gas. The couple left their 1997 Grand Am running with the baby in the back seat.

As they were talking, the couple saw a man get in their car and start to back out of the parking space.

Police said the 24-year-old mother ran after the car, broke the passenger-side window with her elbow and grabbed the door. The woman tripped and was dragged several feet by the carjacker. According to the police report, the woman's 32-year-old husband jumped into the car through passenger window, yelling that the baby was in the car. The man then started kicking the carjacker in the head. The car ended up on a curb and the carjacker got out and ran.

The woman was treated for bruises to her arms and legs. Her husband was treated for a cut to his ear. The couple's baby was covered in glass but not hurt.

Police searched the area but could not find the carjacker.

Makes you think!! Almost have to keep kids & pups in your arms when the public is at large. Sad!
