My goodness. You have given me such hope! I too am running a male on longer around here. He is beautiful but his little jewels keep disappearing he is 8 months old. LOL I'm hoping they decide to decend and stay there. I do not know of any bad traits with late bloomers. But I have heard of this happening before in toy breeds.
