You must definately, wash the affected paws, if you don't have any disinfectant, use cooled boiled water and salt, not too hot or strong salt mix though. You must check where the bleed is coming from, could it be glass?or something thorny? (don't rub the wounds though, if it is a foreign body, you can put it into the paw further) How bad is the bleeding? does it need vet treatment, if you cannot stem/stop the bleeding then it does, immediately! If you are sure the bleeding has stopped or is stopping and there are no foreign bodies in the paws, you must protect against infection and licking. if you feel confident dress the wounds, are you able, or another person able to go back and re-tack where you have just walked to check the area/paths etc for any possible causes?
(if in doubt call the vet out!)
