You're absolutely correct.
Unless one is absolutely knowledgable and willing to handle the responsibilities that come with a stud, I suggest that any such contemplation of breeding should be put on the back burner.
Knowing that not all dogs automatically know how to breed and that a breeder must know they how and should intervene is one of the basic things a breeder learns.
