My beagle was 11 years old when my oldest son was born. When people came to see the baby we made sure that everyone fussed over the dog. He got toys and treats and lots of hugs, then they went to see the baby. When I held my son I would also reach down and pet the dog and let the dog smell the baby. He was always very good with my son. My sons were older when I got my Yorkie, they were 10 and 6 and Sammy was always very good with them. But I honestly don't know how he would be around a new baby.
