I have to say as someone who has kept pet rats fancy rats and wild rats are are completely diffrent my sister has two fancy hooded rats as a school project she had to build agility course and teach them to run it it took her about 4 weeks and they wear cute when the project was done my grandmother did not want rats in her house so i ended up with them. they wear very clean. the pooped and peed in a litter box they wear smart they could beg or sit. they wear sweet my sister would come over and bath them in puppy shampoo once a week and they never started to smell (well a little on Friday before she come over)
now wild rats are just as smart but they are also mean they will bite your hand off before they would take a bit of oatmeal from it they will pee in your house and even attack your dogs and cats if they don't attack them first also if you have a nest of wild rats they smell awful they dont groom themselves because if they smell like spoiled food a cat or dog or fox is less likely to want to eat them I would one day maybe own a pet rat again but i would freak out and scream if i had a wild rat in my house
