We did away with land lines altogether!! I added the home phone number (rarely used it anyway-but kept it for my husband to have an extra line when he works from home) to my Verizon wirless account for $9.95 a month, and also got my mom a cell phone for Christmas last year for another $9.95.
There are 3000 prime time minutes a month, that hardly gets used up because nights, weekends and other Verizon calls are unlimited. Locked in for 2 years at $80 bucks a month. They also threw in a phone and I can upgrade my phone every 2 years. I thought that was a good deal!
