My husband and I stand RIGHT there - my husband is just out of the video, right next to the treadmill - and in the video I took him off of his leash/harness for a few seconds, but usually I'm standing above him, holding his leash that way I can keep him safe, just in case. And, he doesn't go very far, we just go a little bit just for fun b/c he seems to like it, hehe!
