I have to agree with Armaniman. I have two yorkies, Sophie had them removed by her breeder. We rescued Chester and when I asked my vet about having them removed while he had some puppy teeth pulled, she recommend we didn't because his are attached securely. She also said it's a one of the most painful surgeries for them and the wound is located in the perfect spot for them to lick and pick at.

Chester is the first dog I have ever had with dew claws. I do trim their nails and have never seen him have a problem with them. I would just ask your vet about it again and ask how attached they are. Good luck.
