I have a rather large grassy backyard. Copper really can't get out, but occasionally he disappears around a corner and I can't see him and he doesn't always respond...so I just yell, "Treat!" Works every time. He comes running. It makes me laugh. Ok, not the best way to train a dog to come, but it does solve that panic feeling when you can't quickly find your 4 lb. companion! (And yes, I do stand outside when he is out or at least in the doorway.)
