Microsoft minion. I started off in investment banking over ten years ago, then switched to Excel financial modeling, then started programming in Excel VBA, then VB6, then totally missed the boat on .NET, then got more heavily into SQL Server.
I'm half consultant, half programmer. It definitely hurts me that I didn't have the formal background: I am mystified by hardware, largely incompetant in networking, etc. However, I have good consulting skills, and financial knowledge.
I went to the PASS Summit last week and had nerdgasms the whole time. I learned a ton about database programming, and finally feel like I'm past the intermediate stage there.
And you?
