Sounds like two different things going on...a digestive tract issue causing of the diarrhea. Could happen from eating foods he's unaccustomed.

Don't understand a need for anti vomiting meds as you didn't mention vomiting.

Tapeworms are gotten from ingesting fleas.

The worms are fairly easy to eliminate with the de-wormer and putting your dogs on flea preventative.

Flagyl works fairly quickly to eliminate diarrhea. Feeding a bland diet such as the chicken helps too.
