I know that had to be a relief. Ben gives me the cold shoulder and pouts for the rest of the day after grooming too. I know they make over him and treat him well there, but he has to let me know he is not happy being left and then having to go through the humiliation of a bath and hair cut.
He is almost as bad when I just shampoo him at home! He does not like the bath! I think by yours being together, they were more comfortable.
