Oh no, you haven't waited too late at all! In fact, your timing is perfect, you know exactly what you want to do and are making several sacrifices to do it now later in life!

Guess what! PACU was my first job, right out of school. I really loved it. You are right, it was so interesting and I learned so much about so many different things. The only thing that I grew to miss was the relationships with the patients. You take care of them for a bit, then they are gone. So, I transferred to ICU/CCU because I loved getting to know the patients.

As I mentioned, I eventually specialized in gerontology because I really loved caring for older folks.

You will find your niche - and the wonderful thing about nurisng is that there are so many niches! You can work in the hospital, in a clinic, in a school, in a business (I worked as an occupational health nurse for a bit), in hospice, and you can work with children, adults, babies - you can work with people who are healthy or those who have chronic illnesses - or those who are at the end of thier life. There's just a zillion things that you can do as a nurse. It's always interesting!!!
