Our first rescue was from the local animal shelter - 15 years ago. Beavis (he picked his own name) had one ear up and one floppy ear and was the best dog. I can remember having conversations with him about what a good job he was doing learning how to be a wonderful companion. When we got him he was 7 pounds and he eventually grew to 15 - we suspect he was actually a Silky Terrier.
Being without a dog for 3 years, we have now added Baxley to the family. He was also a rescue and is 6 months old and about 5 pounds with two floppy ears. It is amazing to watch how fascinated he is with the big screen TV - he is pretty much "attached" to my husband as he is retired and here with him all day while I'm at work. He is a sweetheart and learning to cope with all these new experiences.
