heres one my mum has knitted for rosie, you will have to adjust it to fit a smaller dog.
Collar

This coat fits my two West Highland White Terriers. Size can be altered accordingly.
My smallest dog measures:
Collar - 14inches
Tummy Girth - 20 inches
Nape to the beginning of the tail - 20 inches
Stands 12 inches from the floor to the top of back
My larger dog measures:
Collar - 15 inches
Tummy Girth - 21 inches
Nape to tail - 20 inches
Stands 19 ¾ inches high from the floor to the top of back

Finished Size:
From the beginning of the cast on row up to the leghole shaping the work measures 9 inches.
The actual leg hole measures nearly 6 inches.
The collar measures 5 inches, depending on how much turn over you want your dog to have.
The whole thing measures 22 inches from tail to collar.
Materials:
2 contrasting 100 gram balls of Double Knit Wool
UK needles sizes 10 and 8 (US 3 and 5/3.25mm and 4mm)
2 stitch holders

Gauge:
5 sts/inch
6 rows/inch
Pattern With Border
K5, K2 P2 rib to last 5 sts, K5
Instructions:
Starting at the bottom, using main colour and smaller needles cast on 80 sts.
K 5 rows.
Change to smaller needles.
*Keeping to pattern, work pattern for 18 rows, increasing one st at each end of the next two rows.*
Repeat from * to * twice more.
Repeat from * to * once more but work only 8 rows this time.
Divide For Front Legs:
First Front Side
Work pattern for the first 15 sts, turn and put the rest of the work on to a stitch holder.
Keeping to pattern, work with NO more shapings for 21 rows.
Break yarn and leave stitches on second stitch holder.
The Back
Now return to the first holder, rejoin the yarn, and pattern across stitches leaving 15 stitches on the holder for the other front side.
Work in pattern for 23 row.
Break yarn and leave sts on second stitch holder.
Second Front Side
From the first stitch holder, complete second front to match the first front.
Now work in pattern across all stitches from both holders included so that you have one side the back and the other side complete with garter stitch borders at either end all on the one needle
Work in pattern for 4 rows.
Shape:
Keeping the 5 garter sts correct at each end, dec every one of your k2 p2 rib stitches so that they now are k1p1; thus, K2 tog and P2tog across to last 5 sts. Work the last 5 sts in garter st.
Collar:
Change to smaller needles.
Work in stocking stitch for 4 rows.
Break off main yarn and join contrast colour - or keep to all one colour if you prefer.
Now in 1 x 1 rib (k1, p1) for 26 rows.
Work in garter stitch for 5 rows.
Cast off loosely.
Finishing:
Weave in loose ends.
Fold so that the right side is together and the inside is facing you. You will notice that the work curves slightly just about where the leg holes are. Over sew the two sides together from about ½ inch below where the leg holes are to about 1½ - 2 inches from the ribbed collar opening. Try it on your dog and sew up a bit more if it is too loose.
Oh and one word of warning. If you have a male dog, don’t sew it up too far down, or when you are out and he just happens to want to water a post somewhere, he’ll end up with a wet coat. Remember his little sprinkler is nearly halfway up his tummy.... >Grin<.
Girls are fine, they squat, and you can sew quite a way down!
