| Mom To Five Rescue / Rehomes I have five. My first was Bella. We got her at five weeks of age. Her whole body was covered in fleas and she was very sick and anemic from the flea bites. We bottle fed her, and got her better. She's now almost seven and is the mommy of the crew. My second was Noel. She came from a terrible place. A small time puppy mill. She was filthy, bleeding from the rectom, had parasites and was petrified of people, especially men. It took a good three years to rehabilitate her. She still has a skiddish streak but 100 times better then she was. She's now six years old. My third was Tia, she was a rehome. She was being sold in the paper as a "purse puppy." I first called out of curiousity and then once speaking to the owner, knew I had to get her out of there. She came to me spayed, but malnurished. She was young, only nine months. She's now four years old and perfect in every way. And, happy to say 100 percent potty trained Then we had Lilly. Lilly was 13 weeks when I got her. I got her through rescue. I don't know her story, but was happy to get her. She had barely any hair when I got her and was shaking terribly. She's now three years old and cute as a button. Last is Mr. Beans. He was a rehome but I consider him a rescue. He was living in a 9x12 plastic carrier, emaciated, and very scared. He was tormented by a four year old, a pit bull and a boxer. When we got him he didn't know what grass was, and could barely walk from being left in the carrier so long. We put food and water down and he ate and ate and ate. He's been with us two years now and he still has a lot of issues, such as he's scared of the comb and brush, you can't touch his feet or he screams (he was dragged around by the legs) and he does not like little girls much. All of them are so greatful for their new life. This is what I try to tell people, when you adopt and put the time into a dog that needs you they never forget and they make the most wonderful companions you'll ever have. I also have my little midget Brooklyn. We bought her. I felt guilty when I did because I always advocate rescue but I'm very thankful I did get her as she's very special to me. Elaine |
