I have always found cutting around the eyes caused more problems with hair in the eyes and let the weight of the hair pull it down away from the eyes on my girls. No matter how much I stressed to groomers to not cut the hair, it happened on more than one occasion. I ended up doing all of their grooming myself when one of my girls got hurt seriously, so that eliminated this problem for me, as well. It is difficult to train the hair to stay out of the eye, but I think it winds up being better for them. I think they look adorable with the hair cut around the eyes, too, but I found it scary to constantly keep cutting the hair to prevent it from going in the eyes.
