I did give Ben pain meds the day after as he was still crying a little here and there, especially when he moved around. I kept the other dogs away from him so they would not jar him. I also caried him out to potty and pretty much made over him all day. He is my big baby and seemed to really need all the extra attention. He also had dental done, and a few teeth pulled. So that might have made it a lot worse for him. My Candy (small Jack Russell) acted like normal the very next day after her spay. Needed no help, no whining at all, she is one tough girl. My only problem was keeping her from being too active. So, it may depend on the dog. If he is acting okay, the night of his surgery, you can gauge by that. I knew my Ben did not need to be left that first day after. His incision looked very good and never did get red or ooze. But he just was not ready to be on his own. But by the next day he was pretty good and the 3rd day he was just about like normal. So, even my baby healed pretty fast. |
