I flew Southwest 4 times with Kasha over the summer. It's super easy. $75 each way. They do have to stay in the carriers under the seat (although we did sit with her in our laps after she escaped) though I've had 1 flight attendant who let us keep the carrier in our lap. Jetblue was 125 I think.
It's very easy and most people in the industry are very nice to you during the travel time. Just make sure to book asap because FAA regulations prohibit more than 4 dogs per aircraft and since its the holidays I'd guess there would be more than a few people wanting to bring their babies home. If you've already booked, make sure you call up a few days ahead of time to make sure the pup's reservation is good to go. Also, check to make sure they don't need health certificate( I just brought her medical records)
