i dont' think it has to do w/the breed on how much they bark. i think it has to do w/the surroundings. we have another dog and she only barks as an "alarm." so edgar will bark when she barks.
other dogs with more stimulation seem to bark more.

i have never used a shock collar or citronella one, but i did try with a choclate lab we had an "invisible fence." he was so crazy he ignored the shocks. one day we noticed his neck seemed swollen. i took off the collar....it had pierced his skin and left 2 holes in his neck and was terribly infected! we had to take him to the vet. never again!
