I found bad breath with our Yorkies usually means bad teeth. I recently had a dental on Ben (whose breath had gotten so bad I had to cringe when he kissed me close). They had to pull a few teeth and that made all the difference in the world! The vet said there was some infection there so he had to take antibiotics afterwards. I am so glad I had it done when I did. It can be very dangerous for them ot go around with an infection in their gums! Now his breath is as good as a brand new puppy! He is getting more up close loving than ever!
If yours is still a puppy, it might be there are some retained baby teeth. That can trap a lot of food and cause decay as well as bad breath. I tell everyone that mentions bad breath to pls take them to the vet and see if a dental is needed. The difference is amazing! |
I'm trying to figure what's up with my newbie, Bridget. She was spayed one week ago, and they did a complete dental at the time. But, she still has really bad breath. Seriously. Any suggestions? None of the old timers here have bad breath....I would think that if it was diet related, that should be out of her system by now....
