I'm all for dogs in the bed, IF all the humans sleeping in the bed are okay with it. If your husband has tolerated it for two years, I think he's due a dog-free bed. Sorry!

You can set the bed up a number of ways. For instance, you could have a nice, high doggie bed set right next to the regular bed so you can pet him during the night.

Once you decide he's off the bed, you have to commit. Accept that you will have a night or two of barking and crying. I bet he accepts the new situation pretty quickly, as long as you are firm about it. If you let him on the bed after he cries for fifteen minutes, or you sneak him on in the middle of the night, he'll just get confused. Decide he will be in his own bed nearby, and stick to it.
