Look up grid systems... that's what I use, I'm not sure how hard it is train them to go on it once they know how to go outside, but that may work better than the pads. it's what I use. UGO Dog and WizDog are two examples but you can make one from a shoe tray and grid rubber mats. it's always worth a try. I know that if you train a dog to go on the grid, it's easy to get them to go outside, but like I said I'm not sure if the opposite way works... if not what about trying one of those grass patches.
