try putting him in a crate w a bed so hes comfy and when you let him out take him strait to the pad, block him from running off of it even, then when/if he goes give him treats praise etc.... thats pretty well how i trained mine. If you can make out his schedule about the times that he goes would help. Also u have to watch him close while he is out. if he goes off the pad scold him with a lod no, ah ah or clap ur hands then take him stait to the pad. also i think i read once that they can hold it an hour per their age . like, 3 months three hours i guess.
