I am considering taking her back again. I fell in love with her.
What I need help on is it that her gums are very red and her teeth are horrible, is there anything I can do to allieviate some of the discomfort until her vet can perform the procedure. Should I be concerned that other problems could exist because of this?
I don't want to adopt her and then have her constantly in pain because of teeth.
I will brush her teeth daily if that's what it takes.
She will be a therapy dog. |

Generally if her gums are that bad then she may need an antibotic for soft tissues BEFORE the teeth cleaning to elimate possible problems/complications. Yorkies are a fickle breed. Some have the greatest teeth. And some are worst than awful. I would say if she lived with a breeder for 4 years and has a mouth this bad then she may have not ever had a teeth maintance. I have no way to know that for sure. If the teeth are strong she could be okay with just regular brushing after the initial vet cleaning. If not then she will need her teeth cleaned every 6 months. With proper dental care she should not be in constant pain. The vet will pull the worst teeth. I have a 13 year old female who has the {{bestest brightest}} teeth you could imagine. She has never had her teeth cleaned ever just regular brushing and maintance. And I have a 12 year old with the rottenest mouth one could imagine. Every time her teeth are cleaned she looses a few more. Both have been here since early adulthood.
