Yorkie Camp is in Upland, CA, just a few blocks from my home. This wonderful couple, Steve and Janet, have a little bungalow behind their home that's outfitted for the care and comfort of Yorkies and Yorkshire mixes only. They have several of their own, including some rescues, and they provide care for several more.
I am so lucky to have found them while planning to get Tallulah. Not realizing how much Yorkies need companionship, I had planned on having them provide daycare until Tallulah got used to being in my home, then taking her perhaps once a week to keep her socialized with other dogs. After seeing how happy she has been there and realizing how hard it is for her to be alone for any length of time, I think she will continue to go while I'm working.
And the bonus is that on the rare occasions that I have to travel without her, she can board and it won't be a strange experience for her. I wish everybody with an only Yorkie who works could have access to this type of arrangement. |
