I have a pup that growls when the other pups touch her while she is sleeping. She does not hurt them...just is a vocal girl.
I think he might just be setting limits....I would not try to stop that....just watch to be sure it does not escalate to a problem. It probably will not...he is just letting her know to leave him alone during certain times. He wants his own space!
