When you are training a yorkie puppy, you will need to stay out with him until he potties. If you have a fenced yard, then just keep walking around with him and repeatedly tell him to go potty. Say the same thing over and over again. He will eventually learn what you are saying. If you take him out on a leash, it's ok to walk around a bit, but try to hold the leash steady after a little while and keep telling him to go potty. He is probably young, but will eventually learn. Just do not take him back into the house until he has gone. After he does, make a big deal out of it and tell him what a good boy he is. It's ok to give him a small treat like a cheerio after he has gone. It will get easier with time, but puppies need lots of patience and consistency in their training to succeed. I would not change to pads or anything different. It would just make it harder IMO. Good luck!
