Our past yorkie Keally that passed away last January had IBD most of her life. Our vet had her on a .5 metronidazole twice a day. Also she was on Prescription Diet ID. She also got the Prescription Diet ZD which we used for treats and she loved the ZD. Sometimes I would mix alittle canned ID for her too. She did very well until she was 10 years old and picked up giardia. She lost the protein in her and had to rush her to the University Of Mn. Animal Hospital. Keally was only 5 pounds and they were amazed to save her life. We had her two 1/2 years longer and got the devastating news a brain tumor. Back to IBD it is very manageable but it takes time to adjust things like food and meds. We had her on predisone the last year of her life too. Our vet took her off of Metronidazole and predisone and put her on budesonide twice a day. That worked wonders for her and we felt she would be with us until she was 18. Sorry to talk alot about her too much but I hope this helps alot for your baby. It was vey hard to lose her. |
