I grew up that when dogs are bad you tap there nose but when I got Callie if I did it to her (not hard) she would nip my finger and then run like haha I got you last plus it can teach dogs to be afraid of hands. I am a big fan of the squirt bottle it doesn't hurt them but they dont like it and learn pretty fast what it means. Now me and Callie have this thing where when I put my finger toward her like a few inches from her nose she will put her nose to my finger for a second its like one of our special ways we say love ya but if she is mad at me she wont do it and she will not do it with anyone else but me.
