I found several articles online that recommend Dawn dish soap, but only on rare occasion.

Get a flea comb first (very closely knit teeth). Give a bath and use the comb while the fur is still damp. Keep a bowl of water close by for a "rinse" after each swipe with a comb.

Wash all the bedding, blankets, etc, and use the dryer on high heat to kill the eggs. Vacuum the area REALLY well.
