Welcome to you and Dexter! You may find that Dexter is constantly surprising you. I thought that having raised (or helped raise) a pair of miniature dachshunds, a beagle mix, an Australian shepherd, a cockapoo, and several Heinz 57s, that I knew everything I needed to know to raise my Yorkie. Not so! I'm on here constantly looking for information about them - especially the Yorkie psyche, which is totally different from any other dog I have EVER encountered.

I hope you will find this site equally informative. If you search on "fleas" or "flea treatment" I think you will find lots of useful info. My Tallulah is still a little too young for me to want to give her flea treatment (when - not if) she gets fleas. A couple of people who have lots of experience have suggested using Dawn dishwashing liquid -- the regular kind, not the "enhanced" stuff. Makes sense to me, I'm a handspinner/weaver and we use regular Dawn to hand-wash wool because it cleans really well without damaging the fiber. I would just suggest that you don't want to bathe Dexter with it too often -- any bathing with soap will tend to dry the dog's skin and Yorkies tend to have sensitive skin in the first place.
