I can't speak for the other brands, but Nature's Variety destroys any pathogens by a high pressure Pasteurization process.
The potential of salmonella on chicken and eggs, e-coli and lysteria in beef, trych in pork, etc, is very real, which is why we have to cook chicken and ground beef through and through, and handle and prepare carefully so as not to cross-contaminate other foods that we cook and eat for ourselves.
If only the meats we buy could undergo the high pressure Pasteurization, our food would be much safer. With regards to pathogens, I strongly suspect that the raw food I feed is safer than the meats we buy for ourselves at the grocery store.
