No, high protein causing liver problems is a myth. Acana is an all life stages food that can be fed through all of their life, no matter what age. I wouldn't plan on switching at 1yr of age unless you want to try something different for other reasons, or you're switching from puppy food to adult food. I think Solid Gold is a good food but I don't really like the fact that it's manufactured at Diamond Food Plant.
