I apologize, the surgeon is the one who consulted us about the surgery and I'm not sure of the type of fracture. He said without surgery there is a good chance that everything would be fine, but with surgery the chances of a full recovery are much higher and the timeline for the leg to heal was about 4 weeks earlier. My main concern is obviously for Milo. When I left the Vet I kind of had an impression that surgery wasn't necessary but was the best option. Unfortunately Milo does not have insurance (Stupid move on my part) and has already had his leg set and splinted. From what I gather the surgery is added insurance for future problems but not necessarily vital. Has anyone in this forum had a problem similiar to this where surgery was an option and elected to go with a cast/splint? If so how did the leg heal? Thanks in advance.
