Here is what worked for me. When I first got Piper she hated having bows in her hair, so I would have her by me and just play with the hair on her head so she got used to having something up there.

I then used just the grooming bands in for a week or so. The grooming bands don't have the extra ribbon and beading, so I figured it would be less of an annoyance.

After a week or so of the grooming band, I tried a few simple bows.

Now as long as the bow is in correctly, she doesn't have a problem with them.
