similar situation with ours. When we purchased a new bed about 4 years ago (much higher than the old one), Meadow (aka Piggers) couldn't jump up on it.
Houston (Pooter Butt) loved that. When we got the steps, Houston was heartbroken.
Meadow in the bed and Houston sulking under a chair just glaring like (What the h*ll?~I swear he actually verbalized it)
Soon he realized that daddy has two arms and he doesn't have to lay beside her. She can lay on one side and he can lay on the other.
They actually get along really well, but he thought that the bed was ALL his.
