I think it really depends on your lifestyle. For some Christmas is just another day or is kept low-keyed. If a person's lifestyle can accommodate a puppy regardless of the time of year they should get one when it becomes available as only they know if that time of the year is best for them to get a puppy.
But, hey, that's just my opinion, I just hate to judge other people's time lines as to what works for them without knowing the whole situation. For our family, September is the busiest time of the year, everyone going back to school, rushing, hectic, revamping the family's schedule. Come December we're all back in the groove, all is calm and well.
