Pepper is a little 7 lb yorkie seized along with 17 other dogs from a backyard puppy mill in Columbiana County, Ohio. He was totally unsocialized, was a fear-biter but had started warming up to the staff at the pound and had quit biting. Pepper boarded transport on Friday to go to rescue in Minnesota and reached the pick-up point for the rescue when he escaped yesterday evening. He spent the whole night in the cold Minnesota weather, alone and afraid. He was just treated for heartworm.
He escaped at the Petco in Fridley, MN, 753 53rd Street, Minneapolis 55421 - near I694 & Central exit. Pepper ran across the street to a woody/marshy area - there is some residential around it.
A trap has been set but he is so shy that he will not be lured easily. Also he jumps - very high according to the warden - when he is cornered. His pound picture and a picture during transport are below. His collar has a blue rabies tag on it as shown in the picture.
