He is tiny and there could be a reason for that problem. I would feed him as much as he will eat, every 3 to 4 hrs..Nutra Cal and Nutra Drops are important. I have had many tinies...when they are 100%, they are full of energy as a big puppy...they may not be able to last as long a bigger sib, but a quick nap and they are a bundle of energy again...

Pretty much same experience i have had.
I also think he may be sort of hypoglycemic at first.
I do not have experience with liver shunts , but would be your next investigation once he gets old enough to have the tests done.
