Because of Maddie's background before we got her, she was extremely timid when we got her. As another said, spend lots of time on the floor. Lying completely flat without lifting your head either. Keep things slow and talk in a very calm voice at all times. Also, YT posters suggested when we got Maddie to make sure we didn't treat her differently because of her timidness. To just keep moving forward letting them come to you. Just takes time.
