I also was one of those who thought dog shows were like beauty pageants until I got my first Yorkie in 1984 back in England. Her breeder and I became good friends and I learned the reason for showing from her.

I bought Beamer from a show breeder and it shows. He also has that "attitude", his groomer says he has the "stance". He was almost a year old when I got him (he had his first birthday the day after I got him),and I think he must have had some kind of training.
I could have got a Yorkie from a local breeder, there were plenty advertised in the local paper. But I wanted a reputable breeder.

I love watching the dog shows and seeing the beautiful dogs - not just the Yorkies although they are my favourite. Love the way they carry themselves. They are really poetry in motion!
