Personally I always require my vets to send bloodwork out as in house values are not as reliable. Sometimes we do in house blood work with a send out or "vet screen" just for accuracy. When Teddy was neutered we did pre anesthetic testing and also did a cardiac ultrasound to make sure his heart was in good shape as well.
The costs will depend on the test ordered. We just spend $111 for a full wellness screen with urinalysis for Daisy. The test for Teddy was around the same with another $40 for the heart ultrasound.
