Vectra has Permethrin in it. Shampoo is said to wash it out. I wouldn't put it on an animal. My vet said it's no concern. Sometimes we shampoo the same day it's applied.

I've known yorkies to be allergic to fleas. It's not rare.

But anyway the Vectra seem to really do the trick! But the vet said any of them can be neutralized by using the wrong kind of shampoo. Ask your vet when you get a chance - I would be very curious if they say thats true or not - I did not know that before - I just wouldn't have thought of that happening. My Gizmo is also allergic to flea's - so they cause him to have a rash which also makes for some itching! So we have to do some other pills from time to time - I believe they are a type of steroid to stop the itching and the rash. Who knew they could be allergic to fleas? I just thought of things like grass or food - the usual type things. I just keep getting educated all the time! But the shampoo I purchased is a hydrating shampoo and it works pretty darn good - as far as cleaning and a good smell and making his fur soft. Gizmo is 11 years old and he is not into us doing a whole lot with his grooming anymore - so we try not to pester him too much because of his age. We just try to keep him happy!
