We are looking for a female between 4 and 5 ponds, with AKC papers, and champion bloodlines if possible. We are not looking to show her, or breed her. Friends of ours purchased a "Yorkie" from a backyard breeder, that came with AKC papers. The dog ended up weighing over 20 pounds , and looked more like a Silky then a Yorkie. We do not want the same thing to happen to us. So.... 1. How much can I expect to pay. One breeder quoted us $3500, while another quoted $1800. We want a quality dog, but do not want to be ripped off either. 2. Can anyone recommend a breeder? Preferably within driving distance. Thanks in advance for any advice!!! |
Hello to everyone I am new to Yorkie Talk, my history is I showed a number of dogs not yorkies in the 80's, got my first yorkie in that time frame. Have loved them ever since, early breeding failed, so I got involved in my career, and just loved them. Since I have retired I have had time to try breeding yorkies again and have had several litters. I guess I am called a backyard breeder, however quality is important to me. My mommy has champion ancestors as well as the stud I used. They produced 4 darling babies (all girls). I agree with maltesemommy, you can get ripped off very easily. I try to be fair. Looking forward to to reading Yorkie talk often.
