Once again I'm sorry for your loss. | First and foremost, Robin I am so very sorry about the loss of your baby. This is so tragic, and I understand the pain you feel. I don't really understand what happened with him and why the anesthesia harmed him. I'm sorry you weren't informed of presurgical testing. Even so, sometimes things happen no matter how careful we are being. I don't mean any disrespect here, and I really am very saddened to hear about Max. I am a big worrier, and I don't like to take risks. That said, most times not having certain things done because we are worried about anesthesia can be more harmful to our babies than the anesthesia. I had dentals done on my little girls at least once a year until I wasn't able to with Ashley because of her heart being enlarged. I know they weren't a medical necessity, but I believe they helped to keep my girls healthy. We decided with Ashley then not to have any surgical procedures that weren't necessary. Still, there were three times that we needed to put her under anesthesia because the quality of her life without the procedures would not have been as good. I knew it was risky, but I chose for Ashley's sake to take the risk, and she lived until almost seventeen. I also believe spaying and neutering are better for the health of our babies, even though there are risks involved. Thank you for letting us know about this, and I hope it helps others learn about presurgical testing, even on babies. Many years ago, I didn't know about having it done on babies, either. I only am more aware now because of all of the health risks involved with Yorkies. Please accept my condolences about the loss of your baby. My heart breaks for you. |
