It must be a 'Khloe' thing. Mine growls when she is playing, when she chases your feet to play, when she wants your attention, or when she wants something off of your plate. And she also makes a weird 'moaning' sound. Can't really describe the sound, really, but she does it when we play 'snake' with her with our socks.
Although there are times when I'd rather her not, and times when I have had a long day and could live without it, I don't find it to be a major issue unless she becomes violent. (:
