But I do tend to agree with this statement. My moms dog, though she was not "old" at 5 yrs old totally came to life again when I got Jackson (and living with my mother). It took her a good month to warm up but once she did, they played and played. She just loved it. Sadly, she passed away last year. This also happened with my uncles 13yr old Siberian Husky who had always lived by herself. She came back to life when she moved in with my aunt and her 7 year old Pittie and they became the best of friends.
I also want to add... take them for a walk together! Nothing bonds dogs more than a nice pack walk.  Honestly, that probably should have been done first. You're supposed to introduce new dogs on neutral territory, like a park or something. Walking them together should bond them a bit closer. |
Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I will definitely try the walking thing. I have been reading up on it and they do say the best way to introduce them is in a park, wide open spaces, not at home because it's territorial for the older dog.
