That is so, so wonderful! I am always so happy to hear about people rescuing instead of "buying." When I was in high school, we adopted a little Yorkie from our local shelter here in DC. He had been badly beaten by a kid with emotional issues and, as a result of the beating, lost his left eye and several teeth. We brought him home, named him Andy, and he lived his last 7 years in pure doggy bliss. Despite only having one eye, he had no trouble getting around. He was the most loving dog anyone could ask for and, amazingly, he loved kids.
